Blaze Your Trail is a new programme for students to chart their own path, and light up the sky for others to follow. It seeks to empower students to:
Better understand themselves, and build confidence and motivation.
Learn how to break goals into small achievable steps.
Identify and develop their strengths and interests.
Develop habits and skills such as time management and stress management.
In the long run, we hope that this will inspire them to contribute back to the community.
The programme relies on the Positive Youth Development (PYD) model to track students' growth.
A unique feature of the programme is the reliance on a new role - assistant coaches - to engage students more regularly. Break The Wheel trains older students (“near-peers”) to serve as assistant coaches as they have more frequent touchpoints with the students we are seeking to empower, and can better relate to them. These older students are thus trailblazers in their own way, as they take on a new role of empowering their juniors.
