At Break the Wheel, we're dedicated to maintaining the highest ethical standards. We believe that transparency, accountability and strict adherence to these ethical standards are important in providing effective, client-centric coaching that you can trust. Please be assured that we place the highest importance on the safety and needs of your student/child.
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) has established a Code of Ethics to ensure consistent values and principles among coaches. This helps to maintain high standards for coaches to effectively guide their clients through their coaching sessions.
We take the time to explain to parents one-on-one what coaching is (and isn't), and how we maintain the confidentiality of coaching sessions. We make ourselves available to answer questions via WhatsApp 7 days a week.
We're committed to resolving any ethical concerns and possible conflicts of interest promptly, fairly, and transparently. We're glad to note that there have been no such issues to date.
We set clear boundaries, such as requiring that all coaching sessions be held strictly in public/safe places. We understand that it's important to not just be professional, but be perceived as professional.
In Singapore’s diverse, multi-racial society, we believe that it's important to be inclusive and race-blind, and to treat everyone equitably regardless of background. We understand that clients' coaching experiences shape their perception of coaching, and we strive to be one of the driving forces for positive change in people’s lives and society.
The ICF isn't the only organisation with ethical standards for coaching. A summary of other standards can be found here. They're similar, with 5 main themes, which we agree and comply with:
Do not harm others and oneself.
Act in ways that promote the welfare of other people.
Practice within your scope of competence.
Respect the interests of the client.
Respect the law of the countries in which you operate.
All our coaches are registered with the Ministry of Education (MOE).
Background on the registration can be found here.
MOE's expectations of instructors, which we adhere to, are here.
Coaches for students referred by social service agencies will also be registered with the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).
