Challenge yourself, because that's how you grow!
At Break the Wheel, our mission is to empower youth. That includes interns.
We're committed to ensuring that you’ll gain new hands-on experiences and contribute to meaningful projects—things that you can be proud to attach your name to.
If you're looking for an internship, the first question we'll ask you is—what kind of job do you hope to get in the future, and how can this internship help you achieve it?
It's important to be clear about what you want out of the internship.
If you're not, every project we assign you will feel like a task that you need to just get it over and done with.
If you are, then every project is a cool opportunity for you to pick up valuable experiences that are the first step towards you achieving your career goals!
Job shadowing. For students who don't know what they want yet, so they would just like to take a look first.
Rinse-and-repeat roles. Where the intern does the same job everyday following an SOP, such as posting on social media, or manning the phones. It's hard to see how this gets you a leg up in your career in the age of AI, where fresh grads are expected to be be more generalist and exercise judgement.
Drawer projects. Sometimes called landscape scans, the intern does desktop reseach on a topic, presents it at the end of the internship, and the slides are then filed away in a drawer.
Junior executive roles. Where you gain a variety of hands-on experiences. Real work, in a safe-to-fail (not a fail-safe) environment. Things that you can enthusiastically talk about at length in a future job interview.
We only offer 1 of these 4 types.
See below, from an event we attended last May! We'll ask you about your thoughts on this during your internship interview.
It's been said that only at a startup can a fresh hire become a director in 2 years, compared to, say, 20 years in a big organisation. Why is this so? Talk to us to find out!
1 Feb 2026 update: Applications for this cycle have closed. Currently for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents only. Future positions will be similar in scope, so check out the above links while they're still up!
P.S. We also offer 2 other complimentary services below. No bureaucratic process; just contact us.
Interning at Break The Wheel gave me valuable opportunities to contribute meaningfully to society while gaining valuable skills and insights. The organisation’s mission-driven work, combined with a welcoming and encouraging team culture, made it a great place to grow both professionally and personally.—Olivia
